Booster Club Mission Statement

The mission of the Prince of Peace Catholic School Athletic Booster Club is to provide loyal support to the school's DPL athletes with our time, talents, and resources.  We make every effort to operate with open communication, active participation, cooperation, and above all, the Christian values of our Catholic faith.

Because of the generosity of our community, the Booster Club has been successful each year in contributing to the improvement of the school's athletic facilities.  We look forward to the upcoming arrival and installation of lights on the POP Football Field, and to another year of dedicating ourselves to the improvement of the athletic program and facilities at Prince of Peace Catholic School.

How does the Booster Club raise money?

The Booster Club raises money through its annual membership drive and a variety of fundraising avenues throughout the year such as product sales and raffles.  The Booster Club is always open to innovative fundraising opportunities which are in keeping with the philosophies of the Prince of Peace School and Church.  We welcome your input with regard to ideas for raising funds that will help us enhance and support our school's DPL athletes, athletic facilities and equipment.

What is POP's scholastic probationary policy with regard to playing sports?

Students participating in DPL activities are required to maintain a grade of no less than 69.5 in each subject area and to achieve no less than a satisfactory rating in areas concerning conduct, effort and self-discipline.  Student reports will be reviewed and a two-week probationary period will begin upon the distribution of quarterly progress reports or report cards.  If the student does not meet the minimum standards, they will be placed on a two-week athletic probation.  During those two weeks, students are prohibited from participating in practices and/or games.  Once the probationary period expires, the student will be assessed again.  If the student has shown progress and successfully raised his/her grade and/or conduct above the minimum standard, they will be permitted to return to their team.  If, after being assessed, a student still exhibits a failing grade or unsatisfactory conduct, they will be placed on an additional two week probationary period.  Assessments will continue every two weeks under the student's grades and/or conduct are brought up to standard or the season ends.

Are there tryouts, and if so, for what sports?

Yes, currently at Prince of Peace, tryouts are conducted for volleyball (7th and 8th grades) and for basketball (6th, 7th and 8th grades).  Tryouts for other varsity sports may become necessary depending on the number of students going out for that particular sports.  There are no CUTS!!

Who is in charge of running the tryouts?

It is the responsibility of the Athletic Director to bring in outside coaches to conduct and oversee the tryout process.  If the coaches have a concern regarding a player, they may consult the Athletic Director for his recommendation.

Where do we get team uniforms?

The Athletic Director will distribute uniforms to all players and coaches.  All players must sign a uniform contract agreement and pay a $65.00 deposit which will be returned when the uniform is returned to POP.

Can a non-parent coach a POP team?

Yes, we are very blessed to have great parent volunteer coaches.  At the Varsity level especially, it is preferred to have a non-parent coach the team if a qualified candidate is available.

It is important to note, however, that all coaches must undergo the Prince of Peace Safe Environment Training and agree to a full background search.

Are there playing time requirements?

Yes, playing time requirements are in place, generally, for 5th and 6th grade sports.  It is strongly encouraged that all players have the opportunity to participate in all games.
